Our Story

Katie's Amish Kitchen sits along Hartman Bridge Road near Strasburg, surrounded by Amish farms. The place has gotten busier over the years. The cooking hasn't changed.

Every morning the kitchen starts early. Bread dough rises before dawn. Pies go in the oven while the coffee brews. The chicken corn soup gets pulled chicken, not canned. The beef vegetable soup uses stock that's been going since the day before.

The recipes are Pennsylvania Dutch: scrapple, chow chow, shoofly pie, chicken pot pie with wide egg noodles. These aren't menu novelties for tourists. They're what people in Lancaster County eat at home.

Nothing Fancy

We don't try to be fancy. Clean dining room, generous portions, fair prices. There are nicer-looking restaurants nearby if that's what you're after; this one is built for the food.

Picnic tables out back look over the neighboring farms. On a warm evening it's a fine place to finish a piece of pie and a cup of coffee.
